The Wednesday poetry prompt at Poetic Asides today was “loss” or “lost”. Here’s what came from that:
what won’t grow
her cherished lilies.
bulbs dug out,
bitten through & tossed
by ravenous rodents.
one less piece of her
one more reminder
she’s not here to see.

Happy to see you include a blog link, Kim. 🙂
I love this piece. There’s such a mournful feeling here, that haven’t-we-lost-enough-already feeling.
The larger loss looms soft, but painful.
Thank you so much, De. I look forward to wending my way through all the lovely words on your blog.
Oh, heavens. Don’t commit to all of them. 😉 I’m five years deep. Stuff piles up. 😉
Melancholic piece. Lovely.
