poem: what won’t grow

The Wednesday poetry prompt at Poetic Asides today was “loss” or “lost”.Ā  Here’s what came from that:

what won’t grow

her cherished lilies.

bulbs dug out,

bitten through & tossed

by ravenous rodents.

one less piece of her

to flourish.

one more reminder

she’s not here to see.

  1. Happy to see you include a blog link, Kim. šŸ™‚
I love this piece. There’s such a mournful feeling here, that haven’t-we-lost-enough-already feeling.
The larger loss looms soft, but painful.
