poem: Wooden Planter

This is my quick response to today’s prompt on Poetic Asides to write an “open” poem.

Wooden Planter

Sunflowers in the garden box.

Yellow faces open, unabashed.

Your rusty hammer

in the tangled grass,

since that day you spent

building us a place

to plant our hope.
